6 months!

I figured I need to get on this since Lincoln will be 7 months before I know it! Last month we were trying to figure out the best formula. I think we finally have that figured out now! He used to be pretty fussy but is much more happy now. He does get really grumpy when he is tired. He hasn’t wanted his pacifier lately. I finally bought Issie security blankets (same Aden and Anais brand like his swaddle blankets). He LOVES these! Now when he gets tired I lay the blanket on his head and he is out super fast. Why did I wait so long to buy these!? Last week he had a bad cold and so did mommy. We both felt very crummy. He was not himself at all and pretty much fussed all day all week. He now seems to be back to his happy self! He has tried cereal and avocado. He loves avocado and likes to put his hand in his mouth while eating to create a nice mess:)

Last month Lincoln was waking up 3 or so times in the night and I would get up and give him his pacifier. Well, our chiropractor said to stop because I am making it worse. I knew that, but I just got impatient;) So that next weekend I just let him cry. It only takes him 5 or 10 minutes to cry and fall back asleep. It took two nights of waking up 3 or 4 times and crying in the night. By the third night he slept 10 hours straight. He is still sleeping 10 hours now, amazing. If he happens to wake up now, he doesn’t usually cry but will just chew on his blanket for a bit then will fall right back to sleep. When I go into in his room in the morning, he is waiting for me with a big silly grin on his face! He has even learned to turn his mobile music back on with his feet:)

Lincoln still isn’t a huge fan of laying on his tummy so he will just roll over to his back right away. He will roll from his back to his side but can’t quite get all the way over to his tummy. He likes to stand and jump a lot when I hold his hands. I have this feeling he will skip the crawling, maybe just scoot everywhere then go right to walking! He is learning to sit up…had his first bump on his head this morning as he tumbled forward and hit his head on the wall..oops! He is such a talker!!! His laugh just brings me so much joy. He is starting to be really into his legs and feet now. He even likes to take his socks off…and then of course puts them in his mouth! Everything these days goes into his mouth. He has a tooth coming up on the bottom. He can be a very animated boy and flaps his arms all over the place. Sometimes this creates little scratches on his face. I can’t believe how fast their finger nails grow! He is also such a fan of bath time and loves his nightly routine! This boy is growing up so fast, I just can’t believe it!

6 month stats- compared to preemie boys:

Weight: 16 lbs. 75-95%

Height: 26.5 in 95%

Head: 41.5 cm 50%

So I was taking his tie pictures and saw something flashing on my camera but of course didn’t stop to see what it was. After taking the pictures I realized it was telling me I didn’t have a memory card in..ugh :( So I didn’t get many good ones after that because he spit up and his tie wouldn’t stick anymore! Oh well!

5 months!

I can’t believe Lincoln is already 5 months old! He is growing so fast! This little boy loves to talk and smile. His favorite things are still the fan and lights. He has really been interested in watching Abby lately and will have staring contests with her! He still is not a fan of tummy time but at day care this past week while he was on his tummy he was getting so mad that he rolled over to his back and did it 3 times!

He still has his fussy time at night but it’s been helping putting him to bed a little earlier. Lincoln had been sleeping through the night 8-9 hours, amazing! This was while he was in his Rock and Play Sleeper in our room since he had some colds, but I have now made the transition back to his crib which is messing things up! I don’t think he likes feeling so “open” in his crib so he usually wakes up 3 or so times but will fall asleep after I give him his pacifier or sometimes he will soothe himself back down. His hasn’t needed to eat in the night for a few weeks now. I knew putting him back in his crib was going to mess up sleep patterns but I had to do it! He is usually a great napper, except for this weekend for some reason and has been only napping good on me!

Another new transition has been switching to formula :( My supply just wasn’t there and am now out of what I had frozen so I can’t keep up. He was used to formula because we have always had to put formula with my breast milk for extra calories. Now that he has had an increase in formula he seems to be spitting up a lot more so we will have to see how this goes. It’s been a little hard on me knowing I am completely done with the whole nursing/pumping thing but at the same time it has made my life a little easier. I feel like I can get so much more done at school now and can socialize again. I actually ate lunch with teachers for the first time last week!
